Transcendental mysticism.

What does it mean to be as one with a universe that is manifestly divided against itself? Perhaps being one with everything is to contain the cosmic war within yourself, to be the chaos. But I don’t think that’s what the navel gazers are driving at.

Life is suffering because the universe is strife. You could say there is no unity or purpose to the cosmos, or you could say that the strife serves the higher purpose of evolution. It all depends whether anything is left standing at the end.

You can be one with the universe, or you can be at peace with yourself. You can’t have it both ways. Embrace the chaos, or don’t – but don’t try to deny its reality.

Perhaps inner peace is overrated anyway.
